Registration Information and Policies

All persons attending the 2016 WIDA National Conference are required to register. This includes presenters, invited speakers, and exhibitors. Registration allows the individual to attend all sessions, visit the Exhibit Hall, and receive meals provided by the Conference, which include morning coffee, three breakfasts, and an evening reception. Lunch will not be provided during the conference.

Please note that there will be no on-site registration. Attendee space is limited. Please register for the conference before making travel arrangements.

Who Should Attend?

PreKindergarten through Grade 12 General Education, Content Area, Special Education, and ESL/Bilingual Teachers will:

  • Gain a deeper appreciation for the strengths and understanding of the needs of ELLs
  • Learn new instructional practices and discover new resources to support language learning
  • Analyze the academic language demands of content standards and curricular materials
  • Consider new strategies to improve the educational outcomes of ELLs, including newcomers, those with disabilities, and/or interrupted formal education
  • Expand repertoire of tools and approaches for collaborating with other stakeholders in the education of ELLs
  • Find new ways to advocate in support of ELLs

School and District Administrators will:

  • Explore ways to strengthen the continuum of services provided to ELLs
  • Understand the integration of language and content standards and assessment
  • Learn how data from language proficiency and content assessments can be used to support decisions and inform goal setting
  • Discuss how to build staff capacity as well as family and community involvement

Those who support the education of ELLs will:

  • Attend sessions presented by outstanding educators and national experts
  • Take time to reflect on innovative and inspirational practices with your colleagues
  • Forge new relationships with peers from around the country

Registration Information and Policies

To make registration for the WIDA 2016 National Conference as easy as possible, please review and adhere to the following policies.

Registration Payment

  • Avoid delays - registration will be processed ONLY when processed online with a credit card, or mailed to WIDA National Conference registration with a check enclosed.
  • Please make checks for registration payable to: WIDA National Conference.
  • Our Tax Identification Number is: 39-1805963.

Substitutions, Cancellations, and Refunds

  • Substitutions or transfers may be requested for a $10 fee through September 15th. Attendees requesting substitutions must complete the fillable form, print and mail it with a check for $10 payable to WIDA National Conference. After September 15th only in-person substitutions would be allowed on site at the conference, and attendees would incur a $15 fee.
  • Request for cancellations and fee refunds must be submitted and received by September 30th by completing the fillable form. Refunds will be processed eight weeks after they are received and a $100 cancellation fee will apply.

Attendee Release
Once your registration is completed, you will receive your registration confirmation by email. Please ensure that you have entered your valid email address correctly on the registration form. Be sure to check your junk email folder in case any WIDA email(s) are caught by spam filters.

You will receive essential information for registered attendees electronically at the email address provided on your registration form. In addition, you will also begin to receive the WIDA News email newsletter, if you were not previously on our mailing list. If you would like to discontinue at any time, you may opt-out.

Your registrant information will also be added to the Crowd Compass conference application for the purposes of utilizing this app. Contact information will not be shared publicly, unless expressly allowed by the registrant.

By attending the WIDA National Conference you acknowledge and agree to grant WIDA the right to record, film, photograph, or capture your likeness in any media now available or hereafter developed and to copy, distribute, broadcast, use, or disseminate, world-wide and in perpetuity, such media without any further approval from you or any payment to you. This grant to WIDA includes, but is not limited to, the right to edit such media, the right to use the media alone or together with other information, and the right to allow others to use or disseminate the media.

Attendee badges must be worn at all times to all events, including sessions, the Exhibit Hall, and meals. All attendees MUST pre-register and pick their badge up on-site. WIDA will not mail badges in advance. Please print your registration confirmation and bring it on-site to receive your badge.

There will be a $5 replacement fee for lost badges. Once you have received your badge on site, it cannot be changed, substituted, or reissued to a different person without the express consent of the original badge holder and WIDA, and any changes will incur a $15 fee.

Attendee Conduct
Badge Use and Misuse. By attending and/or registering for WIDA National Conference, you agree not to sell, trade, transfer, or share your complimentary code or badge. Any persons wearing badges from previous WIDA events or falsified badges and/or sharing or swapping badges may be ejected from the event and banned from future events. If such conduct is discovered after an event, violators will be invoiced according to onsite registration pricing and will be required to pay their invoice in full.

Photography, Recording, and Videotaping. Attendees may not record audio or video of any breakout, keynote, or invited speaker sessions at WIDA National Conference. Attendees may take pictures within the event for purposes of company or annual reports, company media pieces, marketing materials, etc.
